Don't Mean Nothin'
A passion project created by Kyle Hunter and Elijah Fleming. Don't Mean Nothin' is designed to immortalize as many stories from our nation's heroes as possible. We are here to give people a place to share their stories with the public. In July of 1967, Kyle's uncle Myron was killed in action on Hill 830 in Vietnam. He was fighting with the 173rd Airborne on his 4th deployment. He saw combat in Korea on his first and in Vietnam with the Green Berets on his second and third. Myron knew how valuable his experience in country would be to fresh young men, and opted to deploy with the 173rd instead of with a special forces unit. While moving through heavy vegetation on Hill 830, Myron's unit was ambushed by a dug in and well prepared North Vietnamese company. He was shot in the leg during the initial contact, severing his femoral artery. Under normal circumstances this was a wound he could have survived. But on Hill 830, the machine gun fire coming from well-camouflaged NVA bunkers less than 30 meters away was too intense. The men had no way to get to Myron to apply a tourniquet. He would eventually bleed to death.Throughout his childhood, Kyle heard stories about his uncle Myron. His dad talked about the kind of man he was, the presence he had, and where he served. Born in 1992, Kyle never got a chance to meet his uncle Myron, but years of interest in military history and storytelling piqued his interest. He found the virtual Vietnam War Memorial wall and searched for information on his uncle. Under the obituary write up, there were comments from several men that fought alongside Myron. Kyle took down their names and searched the White Pages, calling anyone he could find that matched the names and age ranges of the men commenting. After reaching some of them, Kyle quickly realized that the stories these men had were far bigger than just learning more about his uncle. He called up his good friend and incredibly talented videographer Elijah Fleming to discuss the possibility of filming an interview. Elijah, sharing a similar passion for war history and storytelling, emphatically jumped on board with creating the project. The pair now travel around the country interviewing veterans and occasional civilians about their experiences. Through Elijah's in-depth knowledge of film, Kyle's love for history, and both of their pure passion for knowledge, Don't Mean Nothin' has produced high quality interviews that are sure to pull at your heart strings. If you are a combat veteran, or anyone that has a story to tell to the world, we want to hear from you.
